End of session

Right now I'm all pumped up because it's my last night here in Rimouski and I'm heading all the way down to my hometown tomorrow morning for CHRISTMAS VACATIONS!!

But I know that some of us that aren't that lucky are still in their end of session, tearing their hair to get all the work done in time. End of sessions are very annoying, but in the same time, we have to get through them to end it up. They're like unavoidable.

That's why I come up with my end of session tips, in the same way I previously came up to you with my mid-term break suggestions cause some of you may need them to ease up a little bit this harsh time. And, to get this, you will need inevitably another thing, which is organization. It is sure a big word, especially for cégep students, but it is the key word if you don't want to go insane.

  • First, approximately 4 weeks away from your last day, plan ahead all the assignments along with the deadline they go with. By doing that, you will be able to see the end faster, and also, who won't have any surprises. Plus, you won't neglict too much your social life and will have some time to chill out a little.

  • My second tip is to try to get every little assignment or whatever done before ahead of time, so you can focus on exams that come after and that are way more stressful.

  • Last but not least, if you have an oral presentation to memorize, don't wait the last day, rushing into it all day long. It is a bad way to learn because your brain won't have time to anchor all the informations you sent him. Memorize a bit at a time everyday, and you will see the results.

I hope you're having OR you had a not so bad end of session guys ;)
oh, and the most important, merry christmas!!

Are you doing something special during your break?

We are the 99%

Some worrying major concerns are going on right now in the streets and it is spread worldwide, but it is about to dry up. Occupy Wall Street is a movement against government's greed and corruption towards us, ripped off middle class. These protesters proclaim themselves as '' the 99%''. I think we're all part of this 99 percent, and I admire people who bother to take their time, energy and money to protest. Here is an insteresting link for you to browse.

In Saskatoon last week, the tiny encampment dropped from 30 to only a dozen because of the temperature  cooling down. At other place like in Ottawa, some people gave up over philosophical conflicts. Sadly, most of the participants abandoned the movement because they had to deal with people affected by mental health issues that were taking over the wealth appropriate distribution. Moreover, two deaths encountered since the beginning the protests, one in Vancouver and the other in Oklahoma City. Therefore, people part of the 1 percent, seeking any opporunity to draw an end to the movement, take advantage of these unfornatunate mishappenings.

It is really sad that the message probably won't even have been worth it because of all the things that came to affect the 99% of people that actually care about a change because they will have shut down the activities for the bad reasons. I am worried about my future now that I know that eventually there might be no bridge anymore beetwen middle and poor class and that rich people will own the power that we deserve over us, because they will have exploited us.

What are your thoughts about this movement?

College life

This post is not intended to get pitied on, it is simply intended to praising the merits of us guys, particularly overwhelmed college students!!

In my opinion, college time is one of the most very important period of a lifetime where most of us get to know themselves as grown ups and start their adult lifehood alone, or with their loved one. We have to make an important amount of choices that will affect the rest of our lives and and follow us in a way. Some of us have to quit their families, friends and pets in order to get this college education done. All of a sudden, those people have to learn how to cook, how to clean, how to shop how to be a college student,  how to combine making money, managing keeping a healthy social life and going to school and how to live on their own. On top of that, there are some hard break-ups to get through, rough patches to go through, some sleepless nights in order to fulfill every teacher's desire. Furthermor,e you still wanna keep smiling and keep some moment to take care of yourself. For those who don't own a car, they have to care about getting a ride home every now and then when they need their home to comfort them.

In short, college time is when means stepping out of your confort zone and starting all over while keeping your head up to the challenge. Congratulations guys, we're five weeks from having the third quarter of college done!

''The truth is, I don't really like to think about college. Cause that means high school's over.
After graduation, everyone will probably go play basketball. Or sing or start record labels, -and I'll have to start all over. Alone. I'm sure I'll be fine. But like I said, I don't like to think about it.''

TV series

If you are wondering what new GOOD TV series to watch because you put some aside, in order to renew your TV shows supply then you are at the right place! In this post, you will be given some inspiration following your taste in terms of TV series.

Vampire / witch lovers
The best programs right now I can suggest you is definitively the three of them which are based upon books.
  • The Vampire diaries (huge differences with the books, for teenagers and young adults, good quality, great actors)
  • The secret circle ( slight differences with the books, for teens and young adults, altogether good quality)
  • True Blood (slight differences with the books, for adults, good quality, great actors)

Drama lovers
I suggest the good old classics:
  •  One Tree Hill (a very sentimental story well-developped over time, good quality, great actors)
  •  90210 Beverly Hills ( again, good quality and plot, great choice of actors, catchy)
  • Gossip Girl ( personally, I was a big fan but I switched off because I lost interest but I'm sure I shouldn't because it's still a quality tv show)

Mystery lovers:
It is personally not my kind of shows but for those who like this is recommand :
  •  Pretty Little Liars (altogether good quality, good actors, the only thing is the storyline is getting kind of redundant)
  •  The Lying Game (same thing)

Other great shows:
  •  Lost ( Be careful not to get los yourself haha)
  •  House
  • Dexter

You can watch all these TV series at either dpstream.com or cucirca.com! (This post may not be the only one about the subject because i'm a big fan of tv series, I will probably get deeper on each of them in upcoming posts.)

What is YOUR favorite TV series?

The best plan ever

Yeah! I'm glad to launch my first article with a subject that well... Hits a college student's life twice a year, affecting it in a good or a wrong way, something that is really really worshipped and awaited (most of the time). Here are my suggestions for you on how to spend this mid-term if you need some inspiration!

First

I suggest to take the first 2 days to do whatever you want, relax, chill out and just take a mental break of school. Go see your friends, watch movies, catch up on what you missed while you were drowned into your books!

Then comes the week

That's when doing your boring homeworks should be a good idea, cause you the last thing you wanna do in your mid-term is to fall behind when it comes to homeworks.
The best tip I can give you is to be over with them within 2 days, which means by tuesday!
I know, this is a big prize to pay (you had a big week last week), but at the end of the day, you will be the happiest college student for at least 5 days!
Remember, the key is to think of  the feeling of complete freedom and lightness that it'll bring you!!

Finally

If you followed my plan, you can see (normally) the days of freedom ahead of you. Good news, they belong to you! So, enjoy them as you want, party, rest, or both of them one after another ;)(depends on how you actually decided to spend those days), go outside, catch up on your favorite tv series, oh and don't forget to do your laundry if you are going back to your apartment in Rimouski ;), cook, go shopping, begin watching a new tv show, do whatever things you can't find time to do during a normal school week but the important is to have fun, so ENJOY YOUR MID-TERM BREAK GUYS!
